Urlingford Town Team
The Urlingford Town Team, established in June 2021, comprises several people who come together voluntarily in conjunction with the Kilkenny County Council to make Urlingford a place where people want to live, work, and visit.
Our Vision
The Urlingford Town Team’s vision is to create an Attractive, Safe, Prosperous, Inclusive, Respectful and Empowering place to live, a town where all are proud to grow up and grow old. We A.S.P.I.R.E. for a brighter future for Urlingford.
Our vision for Urlingford is supported by the new Masterplan for Urlingford as adopted by Kilkenny County Council in September 2023. Urlingford is the pathfinder for County Kilkenny under the Government’s Town Centre First Policy .
Community Centre
Every community needs the beating heart of a community centre. The project will return the Community Centre to its former glory, so it will continue to be a focal point of the community for generations to come.
Walking Trails
Residents and visitors expect to have recreational facilities in their locality and so the provision of walks such as the Islands Loop is crucial to the overall success of the plans to regenerate Urlingford.
Remote Working Hub
A high-quality remote working hub in Urlingford will attract more people and create a town of activity, generating vibrancy and welcoming a wider pool of people living in and committed to the success of Urlingford.
Who We Are…and why we need your help
Urlingford has experienced problems of rural degeneration common to many towns in rural Ireland. Beginning in May 2021, Kilkenny County Council, in partnership with with Turley Consultants, carried out a series of online workshops where the entire Urlingford community had the opportunity to discuss what they wanted for Urlingford. The objective was to do a health check on the town and produce a “Town Plan” that would assist the local community with development. Part of that plan was the set up of a Town Team, a group of invested individuals that would take the town forward, guided by the “Town Plan.”
Building on that Town Plan, the Urlingford Town Team CLG was formally set up in June 2022 , and agreed a strategy and action plan to guide its work. We have a number of active projects that are at various stages of development. To find out, view the Projects Page.
We very much welcome new members from the community who are interested in delivering the goals set out in our Strategy document. We can only deliver these projects with the full support of the town whether through your active participation or your support for our fundraising activities.
